The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act

The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act
sets limits on the amount of pesticide residue allowed to be left on foods, drugs and cosmetics. Foods not meeting these requirements can be seized by the government. Some pesticides are exempt from the requirement because they are not risky at all. The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act was mostly enacted to protect humans and the environment from pesticides ("Summary of the Federal Food" 2008).
